Strategic Doing is a discipline for developing complex collaborations quickly. Join civic leaders across the country who are learning to innovate by "linking and leveraging" the resources in their communities and regions.

Here are some examples of how civic leaders around the country are using Strategic Doing to transform their economies.

Hawaii Workforce Development Council

Like many states, Hawaii is facing severe shortages of health care workers. The staff of the Hawaii Workforce Development Council came up with an imaginative approach to build new collaborations amond educators, workforce development professionals and employers. Learn more.

Tampa Bay Partnership

After completing an extensive analysis of their region’s competitive strengths, the Tampa Bay Partnership has organized working groups to begin implementation. The Partnership has turned to Strategic Doing to help them keep focused and aligned.

Rockford, IL

Civic leaders in Rockford are focused on their city’s transformation. They have begun to learn the Strategic Doing discipline. The Rockford Area Convention and Visitors Bureau launched the process with a strategy retreat in October, 2011.

Holland, MI

Civic leaders in Holland-Zeeland, Michigan conducted a Strategic Doing workshop to move thier community to the next level of collaboration. After the workshop, leaders found new opportunities to accelerate their broadband deployment, as well as a new branding initiative. Learn more.

Alaska Dialogue

Alaska is one of the few states that conducts an annual gathering of civic leaders to conduct a deeper dialogue on controversial issues. In 2011, leaders of the Dialogue turned to Strategic Doing as a way to begin moving civic leaders from ideas into action.

Tuscola, IL

A small community in East Central, IL, Tuscola combines a rural and historic feel with an emerging generation of leadership not content with old approaches to economic development. This younger leadership designed a workshop for civic leaders to experience how to build complex collaborations quickly. Learn more.

Space Coast, FL

Facing the NASA Shuttle Shutdown confronts the civic leaders on the Space Coast with an unprecedented challenge. To explore approaches that could lead in new directions, Brevard Workforce and its partners sponsored a Strategic Doing workshop. Four months after the first workshop, a new clean energy cluster launched. Learn more.
