Liz Via-Gossman is the Community Development Director for the City of Manassas, VA and a Principal with Gossman Group Design & Planning with 30 years’ experience in local government city and strategic planning. She is a results-oriented city planner and strategic leader with a passion for small cities, neighborhoods, historic preservation and downtown “main street” revitalization. Gossman Group, started by her husband, Architect Craig Gossman, is a small boutique design and planning firm that focuses on carefully evaluating the unique characteristics of a project, crafting plans that are grounded in community realities and focused on implementation. Liz employs the discipline of Strategic Doing™ to help communities realize that the assets that they need to realize their vision and implement a plan are already in their community. They just need to find them and get them involved.
Liz holds a B.A. in Historic Preservation from Mary Washington College and a Masters of Urban & Regional Planning from George Washington University. A member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), in 2020 Liz was inducted into the College of Fellows which is the highest honor the AICP bestows upon a member. Fellows of AICP are nominated and selected by their peers to recognize and honor their outstanding contributions as a professional planner.
