Duquesne University: Fostering Community Health Partnerships
Duquesne University’s Center for Community-Engaged Teaching and Research (CETR) aimed to expand its work in economically underserved neighborhoods of Pittsburgh. A strategic planning committee was formed, and through Strategic Doing, participants focused on utilizing their existing assets to address the grand challenge of community well-being.
A “Red Team” composed of individuals with health-related connections leveraged their collective assets to conceptualize a Center for Community Health and Well-Being, a practical first step towards a national model partnership between the university and its surrounding communities.
